From our deli kitchen

Every morning our chef Mike and the rest of the team beaver away in our kitchen preparing lots of fresh goodies to fill our deli counters with. Delicious salads, quiches, rolls, marvellous meat pies, gourmet sausage rolls, cooked hams, roast pork, rare roast beef, Bakewell tarts, lemon meringue pies, cupcakes, triple chocolate brownies, flapjacks, large cakes… the list goes on. Wherever possible & appropriate we source our ingredients locally.

Bread

Our bread is from two great Bristol bakeries, Herberts Bakery and The Proper Bread Company. A wide range of freshly baked bread is delivered to us every morning.

We keep loaves aside for customers on a daily, weekly or one-off basis. Please pop in or get in touch on 0117 9734440 for more information.

Handmade Scotch Eggs

The Handmade Scotch Egg Company is a husband and wife led team based in Herefordshire who produce over 40 varieties of Scotch eggs. Their mission is to reinstate the humble Scotch egg as Britain’s favourite snack and they are passionate about the quality of their product. All the eggs and meat are local, free-range and sourced direct from farmers and producers. We normally stock 8-10 varieties but are always keen to try a new flavour, so ask us for the list or browse the different recipes on their website (see the links page) and let us know what you would like us to get in.

Coffee

We exclusively stock Extract Coffee, both to use in our café and for sale in the deli. Extract Coffee is a Bristol based company run by three fantastically passionate people. They meticulously select their coffee beans which they then roast in small batches just down the road from us in their Roastery. We are often complimented on the quality of our coffee, all of which is thanks to the wonderful beans supplied by Extract.

Teas

Our range of teas has grown & grown. We particularly love the fabulous teas from the Bristol Tea Company, run by James, who personally sources a select range of the highest grade whole leaf tea direct from organic and Fairtrade certified estates in India and Sri-Lanka. We serve their English Breakfast, Assam, Darjeeling, Earl Grey and Silver Leaf Green teas in our café, and they are also for sale in the deli.

Also very popular are the fresh & funky teas from Jeeves & Jericho (we can’t get enough of their take on Lapsang Souchong, “Smokey Russian Caravan”) and the exotic Jing teas including Flowering Osmanthus, Jasmine Pearls and Blackcurrant & Hibiscus.

We also stock teas from the Tregothnan Estate in Cornwall, who use the only tea leaves grown in the UK (and grown on their estate) in their blends, Summerdown English Mint teas and a range of Twinings. We are always happy to open any box of tea that you see on the shelves for you to enjoy in our café.

Cheese

We have a wide range of cheeses in our deli counter, many of which are locally sourced – Somerset Brie and Keen’s cheddar for example – and some of which come from much further a field. Our cheese selection has been shaped by customer request so if there’s something that you’re looking for, let us know. We can get lots of cheeses in with only a day’s notice. We are very keen for customers to try our cheeses before they buy – so please don’t be shy, we are very happy to let you taste anything in the cabinet.

Meat, Charcuterie & Patés

In addition to our own cooked and honey roast hams, roast pork and rare roast beef, we also stock a variety of delicious charcuterie including salamis, chorizo and Serrano ham. You will also find a wide range of patés in our meat counter, many of which are from Findlaters whose products are all handmade and naturally gluten free. Their range includes chicken liver with brandy & port, smoked salmon, crème fraiche & dill and red lentil, coconut & sesame seed.

Other Locally Produced Artisan Products

We have been working hard to ensure that our deli shelves and counters are full of wonderful, locally produced goodies that you won’t find in any multiples. Some of the lines that we’re very proud of are: Angie’s butterfly cakes, Mullion Cove’s ginger fairings, Lavender Blue cakes, Oak Lodge Farm juices and condiments, North Somerset honey, Rose Farm preserves and condiments and Little Pod vanilla extract and paste. We are always looking to expand our range so if you’re a local artisan producer, get in touch!

Other Things on our Deli Shelves

In addition to all the above, we have lots of other products on our deli shelves. Our shelves are split into easy to use sections: Bread, Coffee, Tea, Savoury Biscuits, Home Cooking, Preserves, Condiments, Crisps, Sweet Treats and Herbs & Spices. The selection is diverse and ever growing, and includes a good range of home baking products, oils and dressings, herbs & spices from Quay Ingredients and a large variety of preserves and condiments.
